Free or Affordable Activities in Utah Valley

Utah County has countless affordable or free activities for its locals, especially if you’re one of the 80,000 college students in the area living on a tight budget. From year-round to seasonal discounts, Utah Valley has fun activities for everyone! 

Year-round Free Activities 

Utah has some of the most beautiful views in the country! Hiking in the local canyon areas is a free way to experience nature right in our backyards. If you’re a beginner, check out Bridal Veil Falls or Stewart Falls in Provo Canyon. Scenic waterfalls are only a short hike away!

If outdoor recreation is not quite your thing, Utah valley has plenty of museums for no charge. Inside BYU’s Museum of Paleontology, explore one of the world's most extensive collections of dinosaurs, and delve into the knowledge of Earth's ancient life and environments. For the art lovers, BYU’s Museum of Art has its “Spain and the Hispanic World” exhibit open until June 15th. 

Year-round Affordable Activities 

Cinemark Theaters are a staple for movie watchers in Utah County. Enjoy luxury seating and yummy treats while you watch! If you can wait until Tuesdays for your movie fix, enjoy all day discounts.  

Roller skating is a fun activity available rain or shine. Inside Classic Skating Fun Center in Orem, you’ll find the roller rink, arcade games, and laser tag. Join as a member for as little as $16 a month! 

Seasonal Affordable Activities 

Starting June 1st through the end of October, hit up the Provo Farmers Market weekly on Saturday mornings. Vendors from all around the county gather in Pioneer Park to showcase handmade crafts, art, food, and much more! 

During the summer months, enjoy fair after fair in cities around Utah valley. From Freedom Days in Provo to Pleasant Grove’s Strawberry Days, enjoy fair food, amusement rides, and win prizes!
